09 July 2011
Paypal, an online payment service provider, has recently become the new victim of hackers.
The Daily Mail report says that the company's UK Twitter feed was compromised and the person behind this hacking began to post messages and 'retweeting' other people's messages. The hacker even modified the profile information by changing its description to 'The official twitter account for the fail team at PayPal UK'
Moreover, the twitter account was also used to advertise a website named 'paypalsucks.com'. This site deals with the queries related to the payment processing's business practices and the various complaints of the users.
The hacker also sent a tweet from this account which says "All your paypal accounts are now frozen while we clean up this mess".
PayPal's director of communications, Anuj Nayar, agreed that hackers had targeted its Twitter feed, but he also convinced to all his customers that PayPal's UK customer systems and data had not been compromised in any way.
