PEER 1 Expands Its Content Delivery Network With OnApp CDN
09 August 2011
PEER 1, running a web hosting portal named www.peer1.com, declared that it has extended its CDN to locations globally with the introduction of OnApp CDN yesterday.
The OnApp CDN is developed for hosting providers to deliver CDN apart from having to create their own infrastructure. In the recent time, PEER 1 extended its partner program over EMEA.
The press release shows that PEER 1 Hosting will link four of its PoPs in North America to an extended CDN infrastructure of 18 extra PoPs via the OnApp CDN Federation. The OnApp Federation is a team of hosting providers who distribute data center resources to build content delivery network.
PEER 1 Hosting's vice president of product development, Tim Varma, says "Internet businesses need CDN services to maximize the web page experience of customers irrespective of their geographic location. The OnApp CDN allows us to give our customers the global reach to make this happen in a consistent way."
As per the PEER 1 hosting, the recent PoPs connects Asia and Europe. By sharing infrastructure with associates, PEER 1 claims it has minimized investment and can deliver competitive pricing to clients.
OnApp CEO, Ditlev Bredahl shows his gratitude by saying "We're delighted to welcome PEER 1 to the OnApp CDN Federation. The CDN market has suffered for years from a handful of vendors that charge outrageous prices without fair competition as the cost of building global infrastructure is so prohibitive for market entry. The OnApp CDN changes all this. Hosts like PEER 1 can instantly offer fully-featured global CDN services to customers through our platform. Hosts are able to generate new revenue streams and deliver new enterprise-class CDN services to customers."
