Online Shopping Business Is Expected To Attain Rs 1,500 Crore By 2014

According to an expert, with the help of a better Internet penetration and broadband services, the online shopping market is assumed to attain Rs 1,500 crore in the next 2 years.
The President of tradus.in, Rahul Shetty says, "Online shopping industry is growing exponentially...The industry is expected to double at Rs 1,500 crore from the present around Rs 700 crore by 2014."
Online shopping is the technique by which consumers directly purchase goods or services from a seller in real-time, without an intermediary service, across the Internet.
He says, "We expect rural India will contribute more than 50 per cent of revenue in the next two years. Presently, the Tier-I and Tier-II cities contribute major chunk of revenue to the industry." Tradus.in is supported by Ibibo that offers large variety of products. The company is rapidly growing in online shopping fragment and is aiming Rs 100-crore revenue in the next two years. "We expect Rs 100 crore revenue from present Rs 35 crore, by 2014."
Another industry runner, 123.loot.com, observing the retail fragment playing a major role in online shopping. As per the company's manager Sudeep Kumar, "The industry will continue to grow in double digit number and is expected over Rs 1,200-crore by 1024" and also added that India is even now falling behind against UK, US and China. "The retail is doing well and we expect the rural India will overtake the Tier-I and Tier II cities in the next two years."
Even eBay India said that the e-commerce demand has grown in the country, primarily because of the greater penetration of Internet.
