Look For Illegal Mining In Goa Through Google Earth

As per the notification of an environmentalist, you can now utilize the Google Earth application efficiently to trace illegal mining activities in Goa.

The environmentalist, Madhav Gadgil, told in a conference at Dona Paula that, "You get to spot all the mines very clearly on Google Earth software. Everybody can see and find out how many of them are illegal." A modern technology document, Regional Plan 2021, created by the State Government, demonstrates legal borders of the mines and according to him "if we compare the Plan with Google images, we can come to know about the illegal mining."

Even the experienced green activist interrogated regarding the eagerness shown by mine owners in the state to extract iron ore and export it. "Why are they in such a great hurry? Ore reserve is not going to be depleted, it will remain below the earth and demand for it will continue."

Goa contains 100-odd mining sites and commercial business owners export 45 million metric tons of iron ore in a year.
