Google's Global Market Finder Helps SMBs To Reach Market Abroad

Suppose that you are the owner of an Ayurveda resort in Kerala and would like to advertise it to attract clients from abroad, what would be the simplest way of doing this? Apart from recruiting an ad agency to boost your resort abroad, you can now even fetch all those potential foreign clients with just a click of your mouse on Google's new web portal, the Global Market Finder. This is a free online utility announced publicly today by Google India to help advertisers find new markets abroad.

Aiming for all Small and Medium Businesses (SMBs), the businesses simply visit the website and choose keywords to get a mapping of the parts of the world with demand for their product or service. Google India's Head Online Sales said, “It is a tool for Indian SMBs (small and medium businesses), to get connected to overseas markets to export services.”

This tool is available worldwide for less than a year and was tested in India since last two months. Sheshadri added, “We found a lot of real estate players, traditional retailers like jewellers and travel and tourism companies using this tool to reach outside markets.” Companies can enter keywords which represent their product or service and choose the region they would like to explore. The Global Market Finder instantly translates those keywords into any one of 56 languages used in the selected region. Later on, it ranks each location by opportunity depending on the circumstances such as local search volume, suggested bid price, and competition for each translated keyword.

A real estate, hotels and tourism player of Kerala, Abad Group observed that getting on the Google's platform have helped them to reduce prices by 50% compared to conventional marketing such as newspaper ads and recruiting private agents. According to the GM Marketing and Strategy of Abad Group, Prince Varghese, “I was spending Rs. 5 lakh earlier now I can bring the cost down to Rs 2 lakh with better results.” A significant growth can be seen in his enquiries regarding tourism business as compared to traditional promotion.

Google has already supported a few hundred India-based SMBs to get in new geographies. Google Ads for Global Advertisers translates the company's website and ad text with the help of a translation software to approach new clients with appropriate online ads through services such as Google AdWords. It even helps to understand options for international payment, shipping, and customer service.
