01 July 2011
Facebook owner Mark Zuckerberg is much wealthier than Google owners Sergey Brin and Larry Page, as per GSV Capital Corp's stake purchase which priced the popular social networking site at about USD 70 billion.
At the beginning of this week, GSV Capital Corp purchased 225,000 Facebook shares for about USD 29.28 each. This investment cost values the popular social media site at about USD 70 billion.
According to the new investment and Time magazine information, Zuckerberg deserves around USD 18 billion. The Time report states, "With the new valuation, Zuckerberg has one-upped Google co-founders Sergey Brin and Larry Page, whose fortunes are estimated to have dropped."
This evaluation shows Zuckerberg is world's third-richest man in the technology sector, after Microsoft's Bill Gates and Oracle's Larry Ellison. Presently, Bill Gates is assumed to have value of USD 56 billion, and Ellison is the world's fifth-richest man with USD 39.5 billion.
At the beginning of this year, Zuckerberg is valued at USD 13.5 billion. Last year, he had already defeated Apple's Steve Jobs and has now crossed Google's Brin and Page, whose luck are now assumed to have fallen to USD 17 billion from USD 19.8 billion in March.
