Skype Introduces Video Calling Feature To Android Mobile

Thursday, Skype introduced an updated version of its Android application — Skype for Android 2.0, taking Skype video calling to the recent fastest growing mobile OS.
Through the latest version, users can make and receive free one-to-one video calls on Skype from their Android phones and other Skype contacts on the iPhone, Mac, Windows PCs and even TVs. Skype for Android with video can be operated on Wi-Fi or 3G data connections and can be downloaded free from the Android Market or Skype.com through any mobile browser.
The vice president of Skype and general manager for product and marketing, Neil Stevens stated, "We are committed to bring Skype video calling to as many platforms as possible and are delighted to deliver on this with our new updated Skype for Android app. With approximately 30 million concurrent users logging into Skype at any given time and making up to half a million simultaneous video calls, Skype for Android with video makes it even easier for users to share moments with their contacts wherever they are."
Apart from video calls, users are also allowed to make calls to landlines and mobiles throughout the world, and forward SMSes to friends and family located on any part of the world at Skype rates. All these things comes with a perfect new design of the Skype for Android UI. You will find a new main menu on Skype for Android app on which users are allowed to move easily with their contacts, access their Skype profile to update personal information or view Skype Credit balance. At last, there is a new message box, that states mood, present on the top of the Skype app menu making it simpler for users to share how they are feeling, what they’ve seen, or what they’re up to.
During the first phase of launch, the mobile phone which supports video calling involves HTC Desire S, Sony Ericsson Xperia neo, Sony Ericsson Xperia pro and Google Nexus S.
