US Man Sues Mark Zuckerberg For Facebook Stake
01 July 2011
A New York man appeals legal proceedings against Mark Zuckerberg for a stake in Facebook has altered jurists as the multibillion-dollar social networking company emphasize on access to a contract and emails which form the base of his case documents that Zuckerberg's jurists say forgeries.
As per US District Court documents, San Diego based lawyer Jeffrey Lake is now depicting Wellsville's Paul Ceglia, New York, substituting New York's big company DLA Piper and the Buffalo firm of Lippes Mathias Wexler Friedman. There was no details of justification about the switch. The Buffalo firm companion Dennis Vacco refused to say anything on Wednesday. DLA Piper made a statement in affirmation that it has taken their step back from the case but then it refused to say anything further quoting attorney-client right.
Both the sides are expected in Thursday court for a proceeding on whether Facebook and its forensic experts team will have instant access to Ceglia's computers and the original documents he claims entitles him to a 50 percent share of Zuckerberg's interest in Facebook. On Wednesday, Lake moved to delay the proceeding for 3 weeks to get enough time to prepare. There was no instant conclusion from Magistrate Judge Leslie Foschio.
The documents applied by Facebook include a 2003 "work for hire" contract with the names of Ceglia and Zuckerberg, who was then a Harvard University student developing the website, and a series of emails Ceglia said the two exchanged in 2003 and 2004.
For this, Ceglia wanted access to email exchanges with Zuckerberg taken from Zuckerberg's Harvard account. According to Zuckerberg lawyers, Ceglia must generate his material before seeing the Harvard emails. Facebook jurist Orin Snyder said in the court filing, "These indisputably genuine emails directly contradict Ceglia's make-believe narrative and demonstrate that Ceglia's story is a lie." As per Ceglia, he had enter into the agreement with Zuckerberg in a meeting held in the Radisson Hotel lobby in Boston on April 28, 2003.
Based on the lawsuit, Ceglia gave Zuckerberg $1,000 for working on the streets project and another $1,000 as soon as Zuckerberg told him regarding Facebook idea, stating Ceglia will get half if it took off.
